Restaurant week NYC: best tables to book

Over 600 restaurants open their doors at prix-fixe prices, and the finest tables are filling fast.

Restaurant week in New York City arrives each summer like a gift from the culinary gods: a rare window where the finest dining rooms in the 5 boroughs welcome you at a fraction of their usual price.

What makes this edition special

Restaurant week runs from July 20 through August 16, 2026. Despite its name, the event lasts nearly a month, and some restaurants extend their menus into the following weeks. The scale is genuinely impressive. The twice-yearly program invites New Yorkers and visitors to experience more than 600 restaurants across all 5 boroughs, offering over 45 cuisines in more than 70 neighborhoods, at a value.

Restaurant week originated in 1992 as a one-time event to revive the city’s dining industry. Following early success, it became an annual affair and expanded to become biannual in 2002. Over the years, the event has evolved to attract millions of locals and tourists, all seeking a taste of fine dining at an affordable price. That history gives the program a certain authority. It is not a marketing shortcut. It is a city tradition.

How the pricing works

Lunch is a 2-course meal at $30, $45, or $60. Dinner is 3 courses at the same price points. Each restaurant picks its own tier and decides whether to offer lunch, dinner, or both. The logic is straightforward: the value is strongest where the regular menu runs significantly above the prix-fixe price.

Prices cover food only: tax, drinks, and gratuity are extra. Every participating restaurant runs the program Monday through Friday. Saturdays are excluded across the board, and Sunday participation is optional, so check the individual listing if you want a weekend seat. Plan your week accordingly. The best tables fill fast at the beginning of the program.

The high-end tables worth booking

For Italian craft and comfort, Felice is a strong choice. With 8 locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn, Felice makes it easy to trade the pace of the city for a relaxed, authentic Tuscan dining experience. It offers a $30 two-course lunch and a $45 three-course dinner at all venues, including the Flatiron flagship overlooking Madison Square Park. Rather than creating a limited menu, the restaurant showcases its most popular signature dishes, allowing diners to choose among beloved starters like bruschetta or fried baby artichokes.

Also worth noting is Arvine in the West Village. Led by Chef Joe Anthony and Sommelier Adrien Falcon, Arvine brings European-inspired modern American cooking to the West Village, and for summer restaurant week it offers a 3-course prix-fixe dinner menu for $60 per person. The menu reads with real intention: grass-fed bison tartare, squid ink pappardelle bolognese, and a mascarpone affogato to finish. This is the kind of table that feels like a discovery.

Then there is La Tête d’Or by Daniel Boulud, which represents the finest-adjacent end of the restaurant week spectrum. With a name that translates to “The Head of Gold,” it is as fine-dining-adjacent as restaurant week gets, literally adjacent to the super-fancy Modern. The Bar Room’s caviar hot dogs typically run at $39, so eating at this Michelin-starred venue for restaurant week is a steal.

Prospettiva di esperti

New York City’s restaurant week is genuinely one of the most democratic luxury events in any global city. High-end kitchens that normally require months of planning and a three-figure spend per person suddenly become accessible to anyone willing to book on a weekday. The real value is not the discount itself. It is the access: to chefs, to dining rooms, to a level of craft and service that defines what makes New York a world-class food destination. Diners who approach the program strategically, by reading menus carefully, choosing restaurants where the prix-fixe reflects the kitchen’s real identity, and booking early, will find experiences that rival any full-price evening in the city. This is not a moment to settle. It is a moment to be ambitious.

How to navigate the full list

The online restaurant week directory is designed for anyone who gets overwhelmed by hundreds of options: diners can filter participating spots by cuisine, borough, neighborhood, accessibility, meal type, participating weeks, and whether a menu has already been posted. Curated collections are also available, including “Celebrity Chefs,” “Classic Restaurants,” “Summer Vibes,” “Date Night,” and “Hidden Gems.”

Reservations are available at nyctourism.com/restaurantweek. Promotional partners for this summer’s program include Amtrak, James Beard Foundation, OpenTable, and New York City Wine and Food Festival. Use the OpenTable integration to book directly. Confirm the specific weeks a restaurant participates before you commit, because not every kitchen joins all 4 weeks of the program.

Conclusion: your table is waiting

Restaurant week is the moment New York City reminds you why it remains one of the world’s great dining capitals. Every summer, restaurant week offers a genuine invitation: to sit inside rooms you admire, eat food made by chefs you respect, and pay a price that makes the whole experience feel generous rather than exclusive. Book a table that excites you. Read the menus before you decide. Choose ambition over habit. The finest dining rooms in this city are open right now, and your reservation is just a few clicks away.
